Colonial Baseball Showcase at Mount Vernon a Huge Success
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Mount Vernon High School baseball staff held its 1st annual baseball showcase, June 9th and 10th, 2012. The showcase has already earned a reputation of exposing the high school student-athlete to college coaches. Senior and Junior attendees have been contacted by college coaches as the result of the showcase from D2, D3 and Junior Colleges. The Mount Vernon staff will continue the showcase each summer, inviting 221 colleges from six states.
The 2012 event hosted players from Northern Virginia and was scouted by colleges from Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia. Three players ran under 7.0 seconds in the 60-yard dash. 3 catchers were under a 2.2 pop time, and 5 pitchers threw 80 mph or better.
