On Saturday, April 9th the MVHS Parent Council will conduct its Spring Mulch Sale. This is our major fundraiser of this year and many students and parents are needed to make this a success. On that day, our volunteers will deliver pre-ordered bags of mulch throughout the community. It is an all-day event. Your students will be signing up at school but we also need adult volunteers to carry out the tasks listed below. Parents will not be lifting the bags of mulch – our students will be! Please review this list and contact Ron Fitzsimmons at ronjfitz@cox.net or at 703-360-3822 to let him know which shifts you can work. We need parents to help with the following areas on Mulch Day:
ALL (Please put me wherever you need me the most!) (8:00-11:00 am, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, 2:00pm – 5:00 pm)
SET UP (6:30-8:30 am): FIVE adults needed to help set up tents, food stations, paperwork
DRIVERS WITH CARS (8:00-11:00 am, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, 2:00pm-5:00 pm): FIFTEEN adults needed – five per shift. Drive the mulch-hauling students to delivery site & help with bag count.
DELIVERY TRUCK DRIVERS (8:00-11:00 am, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, 2:00pm-5:00 pm): THREE needed each shift. Ability to drive truck to delivery sites.
DRIVERS WITH PICK-UP TRUCKS (8:00-11:00 am, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, 2:00pm-5:00 pm): AS MANY AS POSSIBLE! Deliver smaller loads of mulch – students follow behind in adult-driven cars and unload mulch.
FOOD HELPERS (8:00-11:00 am, 11:00 am-2:00 pm, 2:00pm-5:00 pm): SIX adults needed (two per shift). Prepare, monitor, distribute food to hungry students.
