Anyone attending the Celebrate Fairfax! festival can expect to hear a lot of people yelling, "I want something else" at Friday night's main concert. But they won't be referring to the band.

Third Eye Blind first made a splash on the popular music charts back in 1997 with their hit, "Semi-Charmed Life." The song, with its catchy repetition of the phrase, "I want something else," is likely to be the highlight of the evening for most of those in attendance, along with 1999's "Never Let You Go."

As a writer notes on the Celebrate Fairfax!website, Third Eye Blind is often labeled as a "post-grunge" band. That might come as a surprise to those who know the band primarily through a handful of hits, many upbeat or mellow, like "How's it Going to be?" and "Jumper."

The band temporarily disbanded about a decade ago, only appearing at charity events. Though they released a new album in 2009, "Ursa Major," they  have experienced a fair amount of turnover since their initial hits. With new bassist Abe Millett, and guitarist, Kryz Reid, the only original members left are lead singer/guitarist Stephan Jenkins and Brad Hargreaves, the drummer/percussionist.

Despite the turnover, fans can still expect a loud, upbeat evening. To get a taste of what to expect, click on the video from a recent Third Eye Blind concert.
