Crews install a statue of Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller outside the National Museum of the Marine Corps Tuesday.

The most decorated soldier in the history of the Marine Corps will be honored with a statue.

An 8-foot statue of Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller was installed Tuesday outside the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Semper Fidelis Memorial Park in Triangle, according to the Marine Corps Times.

Puller is the father-in-law of Virginia state Sen. Linda “Toddy” Puller (D-36th District). He is a World War II and Korean War veteran, and is the only Marine in its history to be awarded five Navy crosses.

The senator's late husband was Lewis Burwell Puller Jr., a Pulitzer Prize-winning author who died in 1994.

The statue will be formally dedicated in November. For more photos of the installation, visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps Facebook page.
