The survey is a no brainer. The local grocer could have told you this. The plain and simple reason is because, the major populace communting to large financial hubs and government facilities every day to work. Even counties like Charles County, MD and Stafford County made the list this way. It's cheaper to live there and you get a lot more bang for the buck. How do I know, because I have 10 people that work my office out of 25 that commute from both locations. They flock to where the jobs and big dollars are, if you carry the right degree and credentials. Thanks BIG Government.

As unfortunate your personal circumstances may be, please note the word "median". Not "minimum". It's not B.S., it's true. And it is due to the government and military infrastructure, as much as the terrible idea of living in D.C.

I'm sorry about the above persons personal circumstance. I hope in a county with only 4% unemployment that their luck turns around soon. I have to say I am surprised not to see Boston Suburbs or some Silicon Valley counties on this list. Perhaps even a suburb of Chicago. PS I don't think living in DC is a terrible idea at all. One of the greatest cities if you ask me. So much to do and most of it is free. Enjoyed my bike ride on the beautiful Mt. Vernon trail today on my commute in.

Jobs, education and quality of life continue attracting people to our community. We need to quicken our economic growth to keep pace with demand for employment.
