Fall Shopping Guide
Shop local and check out these great fall items.
Fall officially begins Saturday (at 10:49 a.m., if you want to be precise), and local stores have been stocking up on fall-themed items. Whether you’re a pumpkin aficionado or you’re looking for a great addition to your Halloween costume, be sure to check out these Greater Alexandria stores for their best-selling items.
Molly from Initial Impressions in the Hollin Hall Shopping Center said bags, belts, baby items, and scarves are top sellers during the fall. Home décor is also popular – a new line of customizable pillows add a stylish, polished touch to any sofa. All prices include personalization of the item.
The Virginia Florist buyer Hope Jones has been busy decorating her store with Halloween and fall themed items. Jones says that fascinators, clips, and hats for Halloween are expected to be hot sellers. The items are priced from $7.50 to $35, which will make it easy for anyone to find a spooky Halloween accent no matter their budget.
“So many women approached us last year for hats,” Jones said.
New scents from Voluspa and Nest are “wonderful” items that make a great gift. Virginia Florist also offers a lot of great items for kids, including oh-so-soft Jellycat London plush animals and sophisticated baby gifts by Reed and Barton.
Moving further south on the Parkway, the Shops at Mount Vernon offer a full range of fall items including plates, mugs, spiced cider, and mulled wine, perfect for chilly days. Mount Vernon also sells wine, which is perfect considering the wine festival is fast approaching (mark your calendars!). Cookbooks with a colonial theme also make a great hostess gift or housewarming gift.
