The former site of Mike's Italian Restaurant on Route 1 has been leased to a car title loan corporation, according to David Versel, Executive Director of the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation.

Construction crews were seen Wednesday working on the interior of the building. The restaurant closed last July after 84 years in business. 

The Tonizzo family still owns the property and building. According to Roberto Tonizzo, the car title loan company is putting $200,000 toward renovating the building.

The owners have leased the building to the corporation for five years, said Versel.

An update will be provided as soon as an opening date for the new business is confirmed.
