Just what we DON"T need--another pizza joint at Woodlawn Shopping Center! Are we that desperate to fill vacant storefronts?

Well if isn't a thrift store, auto parts store, car title loan business, guess it's no surprise that it will be another pizza (fast food) business. Sigh

I don't see a problem with this type of business opening at Woodlawn shopping center except that it may be a target for robbery as that neighborhood is not a low crime area. I rembember Papa Johns being there for quite a few years, but the neighborhood is worse now in my opinion. I suspect it will be where the cleaners used to be. I was sad to see Bottom Dollar leave, they really had decent food at good prices. Much cheaper than Safeway which is now the main option for the area. Anyway, Woodlawn Shopping Center is way past its best days. I wouldn't be surprised if the main space where the Bottom Dollar stays vacant for awhile. More business at Woodlawn means more cop cars I'm afraid.

yes it is that desperate. the cleaners is gone. Bottom Dollar gone. The place that seems to do the best business is the Cigar Shop that brazenly sells blunts to area youth. Does anyone think they are smoking tobacco with those blunts. In short, the shopping center, like the neighborhood is in decline. Even when the shopping center was busier, i.e. when Bottom Dollar was there, there were more shady people at the pay phones, more loiterers i.e. homeless and drug dealers. So, increased business won't necessarily make it a better place to shop for the average shopper.

Im actually excited Little Ceasars is opening there. I have a large family, the pizza is good, quick and $5! So on a busy night in this economy it makes life a little easier. Given the area looks like crap I hope this will bring a more friendly crowd. I have only lived here a little over 2 years being a military family, and Safeway is a nice shopping store. I hope whatever is opened in the vacant area next to Lil Ceasars will be as nice as Safeway. I wouldnt mind a Shoppers since they have good prices, but given the other stores that surround it, it really needs a much better make over. I only go to that area if its for Wendy's, Subway, or Terry's Gymnastics. A Dunkins would be great, and so would a couple shopping stores like Trader Joe's or a garden center, in hopes these types of stores will attract a more mature crowd.
