MVCCA Committee Won’t Oppose Baywood Hotel
Planning and Zoning Committee met Tuesday night.
The Mount Vernon Council of Citizens Associations Planning and Zoning Committee passed a resolution at its Tuesday meeting not to oppose the construction of Baywood Hotel in Mount Vernon.
The 92-room, four-story hotel, to be located at 8668 Richmond Highway, will be LEED Silver certified and include highway frontage improvements. A representative gave a presentation on the proposed rezoning from C-6 to C-8 with a special exception to build the hotel.
The developer is ready to add a northbound turn lane if the Virginia Department of Transportation requires it, said David Dale with the committee.
The committee also heard from a representative from Belle Haven Towers, located at 6043 Richmond Highway. The owner of the towers sought the committee’s comments on a preliminary plan to construct a fourth building where a parking lot currently stands.
Dale said the project is in the very early stage and the project design has not been finalized.
