Perfect Grilled Filet Mignon

Filet mignon is a special-occasion classic. This recipe is very simple, super delicious, and healthy. Filet mignon is Frrench for "cute fillet" or "dainty fillet" and is a steak cut of beef taken from the tenderloint. Filet mignon is considered the king of steaks because of its tender, melt in the mouth texture.
When grilling filet mignon and almost any other grilled steak less is definitely more, Less seasoning, less grilling time, less flipping, and less poking and prodding.
This recipe is going to become one of your main red meat meals for your next celebration, perhaps for your anniversary, new job or Valentine's Day dinner.

Ingredients
- 2 (8 ounce) beef tenderloin steaks, cut 1 inch thick
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- ¼ onion powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 slices bacon
Preparation
Fire up the grill and preheat for 10 minutes. Rub the steak with olive oil. Sprinkle onion powder and salt and pepper on steak. Wrap one slice of bacon around each steak and secure with a toothpick.
Using tongs place steaks on the grill and do nothing for at least 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, turn the steak 90 degrees and continue to cook on the first side for another 3 minutes.
After a total of about 5 minutes, its time to flip the steak, and only one time. Gently flip it and cook for about 2 more minutes. After 2 minutes, turn the steak 90 degrees and continue to cook on the second side for another 3 minutes. After a total of about 5 minutes,
remove steak from grill and let it rest for about 2-3 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute , so they don’t run out when you slice into it.
Serve with baked potato with low fat butter and sour cream, a salad, or your favorite vegetable.
