Obama for Virginia opened its eighth Northern Virginia campaign office in Mount Vernon on Sunday.

Located in the Sacramento Shopping Center, the campaign office is the fourth campaign office in Fairfax County. About 170 supporters turned out to show their support and sign up to volunteer. Key speakers included former Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe and state Sen. Toddy Puller (D-36th).

"It's been great. Hopefully some of these people will sign up to volunteer," said Obama campaign press secretary Dan Crawford.

Campaign volunteers will host a number of voter registration events in the Mount Vernon District in the coming months to register voters.

"Northern Virginia is a fast-growing area," Crawford said. "There are a lot of young people moving in, a lot of recent immigrants. All of that means there's a lot of unregistered voters. It's important for us to make sure everyone is registered to vote by the October 15 deadline."

It was a wonderful event, and it was wonderful to see so many people fired up and ready to go! Btw, the office looks great and super-organized; amazing what they have accomplished already in such a short amount of time
