Police Catch Car Theft Suspect in Mount Vernon

Police caught the suspect Thursday afternoon after an Infiniti was reported stolen earlier that day.

Fairfax County Police were involved in a foot pursuit of a suspect near Richmond Highway and Buckman Road on Thursday afternoon.

An Infiniti convertible was reported stolen from the 6000 block of Woodland Stream Drive at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. At 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, an officer on routine patrol spotted the car and when the officer approached the car, the two occupants fled, according to police spokesperson Bud Walker. The officer pursued the suspect on foot and eventually, a police helicopter and K-9 unit were involved, Walker said.

"Both individuals were caught," Walker said. "One was released because he had nothing to do with the crime."

Andrew Sellers, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with stealing the vehicle.

Kudos to our Fairfax County Police Department for catching this thief the same day. Hopefully, actions such as these will help keep criminals out of Fairfax County and will put the criminals our finest do catch in jail.
