UPDATE: Man Shot on Old Mill Court in Mount Vernon
Police shoot man holding knife while trying to serve an arrest warrant at Olde Mill Court condominium complex.
UPDATE (Monday, 5:45 p.m.): Fairfax County Police were serving a warrant for destruction of property on a 61-year-old man who lived inside of the apartment around 11:52 a.m. Monday.
When officers knocked on the door, the door was opened and officers were confronted with a man armed with a knife. The man did not follow orders to drop the weapon and was then shot once in the upper body.
Officers knew the man through prior contact, said police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell.

You're telling me they couldn't have tased this person instead of shooting him? Sounds like more overzealous police work to me.
