School Board to Vote on Resolution to Rename MVHS Field

MVHS principal asks community to show their support in dedicating the football field to Jeff Todd.

Correction (Wednesday, Sep. 17): The previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the School Board would vote on a resolution to rename the football stadium after Jeff Todd. The Board will vote to name the football field. We apologize for any confusion the previous version of the article may have caused.

The Fairfax County School Board will vote on a resolution Thursday night to name Mount Vernon High School's football field after Jeff Todd.

The resolution proposes that the football field be named after Jeff Todd, a local businessman who devoted himself to supporting Mount Vernon High School's academic and athletic programs. Todd passed away in early August

MVHS principal Nardos King is asking the Mount Vernon community to attend the meeting and show their support in favor of the resolution. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church.

If the resolution is passed, the school will host a dedication ceremony before the Majors football game on September 16. The field would be renamed "The Jeffrey M. Todd Memorial Field."

Jessie, Your article is incorrect. We are NOT renaming the stadium. Our stadium is named after Melvin B. Landes and will always be. He was the most loved Principal this school has ever had. Our resolution is to name the field after Jeff Todd, not the stadium. Please correct your article.
