Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

See Ya Soon!

A farewell note from a local columnist.

Well, it had to end at some point.

A few days ago I was informed that the Mount Vernon Patch can no longer carry my award-winning column. It’s the usual belt-tightening stuff, I guess.

Needless to say, I’m bummed. I’ve really enjoyed opining about local and national events. I’ve enjoyed needling folks and creating controversy. And I’ve especially welcomed the opportunity to give people some insight on the plight of the needy by sharing my own personal stories from days past. I’m sure there were times when I sounded like a broken record but I felt that, since I had a pulpit, I should take advantage of it by hopefully sensitizing those who were tempted to put certain people into general categories. Everyone has a personal perspective that shapes the way they view issues and I have mine. The only difference is I had a chance to reach more people, so I was going to take advantage of that.

I’ve been encourage by my three regular readers to set up a blog and continue to opine away. I’m gonna think about that for a while, but I’m about to embark on another local project that might be of interest to many of you so I’m not sure how much time I’ll have. But if I decide to create that blog (“Ron’s Rants”?), I’ll be sure to let you know.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone has a great holiday season. The events of the last few weeks remind us that we have a lot to be grateful for, so cherish this time together. And who knows, by this time next year maybe we’ll have a cell phone tower in Mount Vernon!

About this column: IMHO, or, In My Humble Opinion, is a column where I do just that - express my opinion. Related Topics: IMHO

...as your fourth reader, I will miss your column. Each morning I scan the Patch, always with an eye to reading your column. You always had something to say, said it with humor and made me laugh and think. Good luck with whatever the future holds for you. It will be something good. God bless, Blll Perry

How about dropping the other shoe and tell us why the Patch has dropped your musings. Is Opinions to be no more?
As for cell towers in residentials neighborhoods, other existing and future microtechnology must be considered ala northern Fairfax County and Court decisions.
