St. Aidan’s to Open Outdoor Labyrinth to Public

The St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church will hold an introductory workshop to its newly-opened, outdoor walking labyrinth. The event will start at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7.

The St Aidan’s Labyrinth was recently dedicated in September. The labyrinth was built by a local Boy Scout who was working for his Eagle. 

“One of our parishioners is a scout, and he and Troop 1509 took on the project,” said Rev. John Baker. “They measured and cleared the area, and made the labyrinth out of rock and mulch.”

Baker said the labyrinth is about 50 feet and is a circular structure. The labyrinth will be lit up and filled with music for the evening event.

The introduction to the new labyrinth will begin in the church — where the indoor labyrinth will also be available.

“We’re having a workshop about way to use the labyrinth, and this event is open to people of all faiths and no faith,” said Baker.

According to a recent announcement, the new labyrinth “is available for all as a space that invites prayer and meditation.”

“We wanted to offer to the community, people of Christianity or other faiths, a place to walk and pray or meditate,” said Baker.

The labyrinth will be open all year round. Baker said Sunday’s event will last until around 8 p.m., but if they have a good turn out, the public is welcomed to continue walking the labyrinth.
