I am very concerned about the spotty/lack of Cell phone coverage in the Mount Vernon area. Many neighborhoods have little or no coverage and this presents a safety issue for our citizens. Emergency calls to 911 are often picked up by Prince George's County personell and then routed back to our area and government alerts are not received at all. In a true emergency we cannot depend on the very devices we have purchased to keep us safe.

Good comment, Kim, but let's look at the facts--almost every community in which we propose to erect cell phone towers bands together to fight the location and vote it down! You can't expect more than spotty cell phone coverage in Mount Vernon until neighborhoods bite the bullet, accept some responsibility and approve towers built in their own back yards!

The MVCCA subcommittee on Cell Phones has proposed several potential solutions to the lack of cell coverage, most notably locating towers in US Park Service property along the Parkway and/or DAS. More pressure from the public is needed. Aimeedavis42@hotmail.com is the chair of the cell tower subcommittee. MVCCA meets the 4th Wednesday of each month at South County Governmental Center, 2nd floor.
