Fireman's Field

Bring your family and friends to the 10th annual Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27 from noon to 7 p.m., rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event, held at Fireman’s Field Park located at 250 South Nursery Avenue, will feature 15 live music and performances on four stages, an art exhibit, games, and other activities. There will also be more than 25 local artisan vendors and non-profit organizations, along with more than 10 food and drink vendors.&nbsp;
On the day of the festival, the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink will be transformed into the Art Hall. Inside, there will be works of art on display from local/regional artists, performances, an art demonstration, and activities. Pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet while you’re there and complete it to win a prize! The festival will also feature games for all ages, face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt decorating. Handcrafted jewelry, candles, wooden items, skincare items, food, drink, and more will be available for purchase. Several local organizations will have displays and information.&nbsp;

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:&nbsp;&nbsp;Lesley Pitts, a <a href="https://www.christianscience.com/christian-healing-today/christian-science-practitioners" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">practitioner of Christian Science healing</a> and <a href="https://www.christianscience.com/lecturers/lesley-pitts" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">international speaker</a>, believes her unusual career path illustrates the idea that following God’s lead is a more trustworthy foundation for living than relying on society’s expectations or other people’s opinions.
Previously, Lesley served as a <a href="https://www.christianscience.com/christian-healing-today/christian-science-nurses" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Christian Science nurse</a> for more than 30 years, mostly in the United Kingdom. This work brought her to the United States to work in the Christian Science Nursing Activities department at the <a href="https://www.christianscience.com/find-us" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Christian Science Church’s world headquarters in Boston</a>, Massachusetts. Later, she was part of the team that established <a href="https://www.marybakereddylibrary.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Mary Baker Eddy Library</a>. Her nursing qualities were put to good use in organizing and caring for its collections — shared with the public for the first time. She served as Executive Manager and President of the Library for six years. Working at the Library and becoming more familiar with Eddy’s remarkable accomplishments as the founder of a religious movement increased Lesley’s desire to better practice Christian Science in her own life and help others through her <a href="https://www.christianscience.com/christian-healing-today/christian-science-practitioners" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">healing practice</a> and lecturing.
PARKING: <a href="https://www.alexandriava.gov/Lyceum" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Lyceum</a> is in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, where you can find on-street parking or pay to park at nearby garages (e.g., Market Square Garage).
