What:    All grandchildren have a special name for their grandmother. Author Tansill Johnson’s “Who is Mooma?” is a book about the many names and the special loving bond between grandmothers and their grandchildren. Johnson will read from her newest children’s book on Tuesday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. to residents and friends at Spring Hills Mount Vernon Assisted Living Community. Johnson is a mother and grandmother and is known as “Mooma” to all her grandchildren. Over the years, she has read hundreds of books to her grandchildren and was inspired to write fun, simple stories drawn from real-life experiences. She is also the author of “Mooma and the Mouse.” Sandra Steeves, Director of Recreational Services at Mount Vernon, said: “The Enrichment Through Reading program will allow residents and friends to celebrate their love for reading and pay tribute to the wonder of grandmothers everywhere during this exciting, intergenerational event.”

Why:      The author’s visit to the residents of Mount Vernon is part of Spring Hills Senior Communities Second Annual Enrichment Through Literature program that is taking place at Spring Hills residences in Virginia, New Jersey, Ohio and Florida. The program is part of Spring Hills’ Signature Touch to bring innovative and meaningful activities to the senior men and women who reside at Spring Hills communities. The intergenerational program this year requires partnerships with local authors and the local community through schools, libraries and community centers.
