A Birthday Celebration Fit For A President

Visitors celebrated George Washington's birthday this weekend at the Mount Vernon Estate.

Guests from across the nation rang in George Washington's birthday weekend in style at the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens this weekend.

The Estate hosted numerous events to commemorate the 279th birthday of the first President of the United States. Visitors joined "General Washington" for a breakfast of hoecakes, butter, and honey on Saturday and Sunday morning. After lunch, visitors participated in a surprise birthday party and were led by the Second Continental Light Dragons in cheers for "General Washington".

Three new exhibits were also unveiled this past weekend, including one of Washington's Masonic aprons and a Tools of War exhibit.
