Mount Vernon area kids, pets dress-up to enjoy 2nd annual neighborhood Halloween parade
More than 50 children and their parents participated in the Mount Vernon Grove 2nd annual neighborhood parade Sunday afternoon.
The costumed children (and pets!) were once again escorted by one of Fairfax County Fire and Rescue’s Woodlawn Station fire trucks, Engine No. 424.
At the parade's starting point on Craig Avenue, the Lone Ranger, various Harry Potter characters, a headless man, the Statue of Liberty, skeletons, monsters, princesses, superheroes, cartoon characters and fuzzy farm animals gathered for the festivities.

After the parade, children enjoyed cupcakes and candy at the end of the parade route on Maybrook Court. Families also had a chance to learn about fire safety, as well as enjoy Woodlawn Station’s fire truck.
