UPDATE: More Than 100 Injured by Explosion at Boston Marathon Finish Line

Two registered participants are from the Mount Vernon area.

UPDATE, 7:30 p.m.: The latest reports out of Boston are that more than 100 were injured in Monday's explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Boston Police have reported that so far 22 people were injured and two are dead due to two explosions near the Boston Marathon finish line on Monday. There are multiple reports of victims with missing limbs, bloodied heads and other extremely serious injuries. Local media organizations are reporting that at least a dozen victims have "grave injuries," according to Back Bay Patch.

Two of the registered participants in the marathon are from Mount Vernon, out of 654 entrants from Virginia, according to the marathon website. The runners are Nicole Bates and Chad O. Boone.

Buildings in the area near the explosion are currnetly being evacuated and all businesses along Boylston Street are being evacuated and officials are urging everyone to avoid the area where the incident happened.
