Speak Out: What Are You Doing on Inauguration Day?

Not everyone decides to attend this event. What are you doing instead? We give some suggestions.

If you're like me, loud noises, large crowds and traffic send you running the other way. Though I respect Inauguration Day as a historical part of American culture, you'll never find me at this event.

The stress of purchasing tickets, dealing with traffic and a large group of people encourages me to enjoy this event from my living room or find something more relaxing to do instead. On top of that, Jan. 21 is also Martin Luther King Day, guaranteeing a separate crowd heading in the direction of his monument.

Though Inauguration Day will be the talk of the town, I'm sure I'm not alone in trying to avoid the chaos.

Personally, I'd prefer hanging out at Grounded Coffee or grabbing lunch with friends at King Street Blues. And if everyone else is going to D.C., it's probably a good time to get in a little shopping. Without the hassle, maybe you'll actually get the opportunity to browse your favorite stores.

So, are you going to participate in the Inauguration Day events or will you politely decline? If you're not going, what are you doing instead? Share ideas in the comment section below.

Since there are no public events on Jan 20th - Inauguration Day - and only a theatrical reenactment on Monday, I will be spending my time productively, at Lobby Day at the Virginia General Assembly building.

If Romney was being inaugurated I'd enjoy the day. I'll be working to help fund this bloated, out-of control government as well as those lavish vacations.

NO REASON TO CELEBRATE---NO WORK---I CAN SLEEP ALL DAY

I am going to spend Inaguration Day just like I have since the election, wishing Romney had been elected. The only difference is that tomorrow I will be wishing more than today, and knowing that four years from now I will be wishing even more. This is going to be the worst four years in the history of our Country. Just wait and see.

"Theatrical reenactment" - that about nails it!

Tickets to attend the Inauguration were secured yesterday courtesy of Senator Mark Warner. My wife and I will leave early via metro and dress appropriately for the weather forecast and secure our spot with the multitudes to witness history and to hear a reaffirmation to the motto of E Pluribus Unum. We worked hard for this outcome and are pleased that the nation is living up to its system of laws and principles. It will be a day of hope and reflection.
