Sprucing Up the Holidays at Holly, Woods & Vines

Are you lightless, treeless and a bit restless?  along Richmond Highway has transformed itself into Mount Vernon's go-to place for holiday season essentials. 

"This and Spring are our busiest times of the year," said Della Stevens, assistant to the owner of the five-acre garden center. "Christmas lights go fast here, too. We sold out last year, and we made sure to double up." 

At the shop, there are just as many types of fake Christmas trees as there are real trees. Real trees in a variety of sizes range from $24-$150. Fake trees start at $15 for a 24-inch tree and sizes go up to 9 feet.

The five-acre garden center is filled to the brim with heritage ornaments, lights, jingle balls, Poinsettias, holiday tree holders and bows (all tied by expert bow-tiers on premisis). 

You can also find nativity scenes, which range in price from $99-$129. "I've heard that Wal Mart and Home Depot only have the blow-up versions, so we have light-up plastic nativity scenes," Stevens said.  

Holly, Woods & Vines is located at 8453 Richmond Highway in Alexandria, and is open Monday-Sunday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
