View Finder: Mount Vernon Volunteers

Mount Vernon residents donated their time to two events last weekend.

Volunteers from across Mount Vernon braved Saturday's cloudy skies and cold temperatures to assist at two local events.

The first was Mount Vernon High School's semi-annual mulch sale fundraiser. This particular fundraiser garners more funds for school programs and activities than any other. Parents and students loaded bags of mulch into waiting vehicles.

The second event was a library cleanup sponsored by nonprofit Mount Vernon at Home. Volunteers from many local organizations banded together to beautify the grounds of Sherwood Regional Library.

"It's a nice thing to give back to the library," remarked Barbara Sullivan, executive director of Mount Vernon at Home.
