Whiz Kids: Girl Scouts Make a Difference

A new local Girl Scout troop participated in two community service activities this month.

Junior Girl Scouts from Troop 716 participated in a Japan relief fundraiser at St. Luke's Church earlier this month. Among the Girl Scouts who participated Cynuan Boone, Awa Diallo, Megane Okom, Alagia Stewart and Tanijah Williams.  The Brownies from Troop 922 are:  Imadae Boone, Ouley Diallo and Shanya Williams.

The Girl Scouts helped with the set-up of the event, served food, bused dishes and helped greet guests under the supervision of troop leader Kathy Lehner.

The Girl Scouts also helped with the Alice Ferguson Foundation's clean-up of Little Hunting Creek. They collected 40 bags of trash in about 3 hours.  Awa and Ouley Diallo, Megane Okom and Tanijah and Shanya Williams were joined by Nina Shute and Megan Herrup, a Cadette from Troop 211.
