Celebrate the Fourth at Historic Mount Vernon

Local landmark hosts annual Independence Day event.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with numerous family-friendly events taking place at the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. 

For the first time on Independence Day, the Estate will have a limited quantity of George Washington Rye Whiskey available for purchase at The Shops or at the Distillery and Gristmill. Each bottle retails for $75 and makes a great gift.

Admission to An American Celebration at Mount Vernon is included in the regular admission price.

The following events will take place at the Mount Vernon Estate on July 4: 

9:30 a.m: General Washington's Inspection of the Troops: Reading of the Declaration of Independence and a demonstration by the First Virginia Regiment on the Bowling Green.

10:00 a.m: 50th-Annual Independence Day Wreathlaying: A ceremonial wreathlaying at Washington's Tomb by the George Washington Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.

11:00 a.m: United States Citizenship & Immigration Services Naturalization Ceremony: A special Independence Day naturalizationceremony for America's 100 newest citizens in front of George Washington's home.

12:00 p.m: "Red, White, and Blue" Concert: Patriotic performance by the National Concert Band of America.

12:45 p.m: Pyrotechnic Salute to America: Unique daytime fireworks display over the Potomac River!

1:00 p.m: "Happy Birthday, America!" Cake: Birthday cake (while supplies last) on the Bowling Green.

1:30 p.m: Revolutionary War Military Music: Demonstration by the First Virginia Regiment on the Bowling Green.

2:30 p.m: Revolutionary War Military Drill: Demonstration by the First Virginia Regiment on the Bowling Green.
