Reston Community Orchestra's Annual MLK Tribute

"The Reston Community Orchestra will present a musical program that honors the life and legacy of Dr. King and celebrates Black History Month. The evening will feature orchestral music by African American composers in addition to readings, poetry and other spoken words. Featured soloists include Reston's own song stylist Beverly Cosham and lyric soprano Ellyn Crawford all under the direction of Maestro Dingwall Fleary, conductor of the orchestra. The program includes:"

  • George Gershwin - Selections from "Porgy and Bess"
  • Brian Scarbrough - Symphony #1 in E minor
  • Alicia Bigham - "A Prayer for Peace"
  • William Grant Still - "Wood Notes"
  • Johnson - "Lift Every Voice & Sing"
    and other special music for the occasion
