Hot Summer Reads from Sherwood Regional Library

Summer reading program kicks off June 21.

Fairfax County Public Library will kick off its annual Summer Reading Program for kids and teens on June 21. Participants can earn a coupon book full of great discounts once they complete their summer reading and return their form by September 3. 

Mount Vernon Patch asked Cathy Noonan, Youth Services Manager at Sherwood Regional Library, for some recommendations for great summer reads.

Bats at the Beach by Brian Lies
A family of bats picnic, moon-bathe, and toast "bug-mallows" at the beach.

You Read to Me, I'll Read to You: Very Short Fables to Read Together by Mary Ann Hoberman
This book told "in two voices" uses traditional reading teaching techniques -alliteration, rhyme, and repetition -to invite young children to read along with peers or with an adult.

Preschool to Grade 2 - Nonfiction
