VIC to Host Martin Luther King Jr. Choir Festival

The choir festival celebrates the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ventures in Community (VIC) will host its 18th annual choir festival Sunday night at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Local choirs scheduled to perform at this year’s festival include the following:

  • Baha’i Faith: Metropolitan Washington Baha’i Chorale
  • Bethany Lutheran Church
  • Good Shepherd Catholic Church
  • Mount Vernon Unitarian Church
  • St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

This year’s visiting choir is the Shiloh High School Concert Choir from the Atlanta area.

“It is my hope that the neighbors who attend will learn something about the spirit of Dr. King and how we can use our talents and skills to bring a better day for our Mount Vernon community,” event coordinator Denise Morgan said.

The VIC Choir Festival will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be collected to benefit local non-profits working to combat poverty.
