Route 1 Closures, Construction This Week

Construction near Fort Belvoir continues this week.

The following are scheduled lane closures occurring this week. These local construction projects are a part of Virginia Megaprojects. Construction activity is subject to change depending on weather and other factors.

BRAC/ FORT BELVOIR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 1

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Richmond Highway (Route 1) north and south at Belvoir Rd. - Alternating lane closures Monday - Saturday for road widening and removing utility pole.

Richmond Highway (Route 1) north and south at Pohick Rd. - Alternating single lane closures Monday - Saturday for utility relocation, signal work, storm drain installation.

BRAC / FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT

Weekday work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) north and south onto Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 7900) east and west, from Whitler's Creek Dr. to Accotink Creek bridge - Left lane closed Monday - Friday for construction in median.
    Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 7900) east from ramp to Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) to Accotink Creek bridge - Right lane closed Monday - Friday for the addition of a new exit ramp.
    Fairfax County Parkway Extension (Route 7100) north and south from Barta Rd. to Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 7900) - Single alternating lane closures Monday - Friday for construction in median or widening shoulder.
    Hooes Road east and west at Barkers Court - Flagger to direct traffic Monday - Friday for truck access to construction entrance.

    All closures are weather permitting.
