Chef Tony Chittum Presents a Spring Supper On the Fields & Farm of Arcadia

On Sunday, May 13, Chef Tony Chittum and Vermilion will present a celebration of spring’s bounty with an authentic, al fresco farm dinner set on the grounds of historic Woodlawn at the Arcadia Farm. The four-course dinner will be prepared by Vermilion’s Executive Chef Tony Chittum, known for his conscientious, quality-driven cooking, and will include wine pairing, as well as dessert and sweet take away treats from Executive Pastry Chef Tiffany MacIsaac. For this special event, the chefs have crafted a rustic, yet elegant menu with the season’s finest in mind including product from no fewer than ten of the region’s farmers. Complete with a cocktail reception, canapés, a tour of the farm, and a take-away  from the garden, the cost of the dinner with wine pairings is $185 per person (all inclusive). 100% of the proceeds from the dinner will benefit Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture. Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance at http://vermilion.ticketleap.com/springfarmdinner/.

Upon arrival at 3 PM, guests will be greeted with cocktails and canapés and invited to stroll the historic grounds. Regaling with stories and lessons from the farm, Arcadia’s Farm Director Maureen Moodie along with some of the featured local farmers will lead a tour through the Woodlawn gardens that were once a part of George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate.  Before sunset, guests will take their seat at the long, white-clothed farm table, running down the center of the farm, where the chefs will present a four-course spring menu,  inspired by the passion and dedication of some of the region’s finest producers. Chittum’s dedication to supporting the local food system is evident in his work at Vermilion, where he has received critical acclaim for his simply, elegant and carefully-sourced Modern American fare. Always looking to celebrate the region’s farmers, Chittum has hosted three Outstanding In The Field dinners as well several independent farm dinners, including the inaugural Arcadia Farm Dinner last summer. Twice a week, Chittum also extends his use of local products at his Farm Table, where guests can experience a hyper-seasonal menu presented in charming second floor dining room of Vermilion.  For more information about Vermilion, please call 703.684.9669 or visit www.vermilionrestaurant.com.
