HomeGoods to Open on Route One

Discount home fashion store slated to open this spring.

HomeGoods, the country’s only off-price store dedicated to home fashions, will open a new location this spring in the Mount Vernon Crossroads shopping plaza in Alexandria.

The budget-friendly sister store to TJMaxx and Marshalls is setting up shop in the shopping plaza’s former AJWright location in a 24,000 square-foot space. The shopping plaza is located right off of Richmond Highway, adjacent to Gold’s Gym and close to a high-volume shopping area, Mount Vernon Plaza Shopping Center, which boasts stores including Home Depot, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Michaels.

The Alexandria store will be the 12th HomeGoods in the Washington, DC market. Popular for its low-cost home decorations and other home furnishings, HomeGoods carries items including rugs, furniture, lamps, decorative accessories and kitchen, bath and bedroom items.

Lee District Supervisor Jeffrey C. McKay stressed the importance of bringing goods closer to residents for convenience, congestion mitigation and quality revitalization along the Route One corridor.

“I am pleased to see HomeGoods, with its unique and affordable home furnishings and kitchen gear, coming to Route One,” McKay said. “It will add to our growing mix of attractive retail.”
