Mount Vernon Jewelers Sets Up Shop on Route 1

Mount Vernon Jewelers has settled into a new location in the heart of Mount Vernon.

The jewelry store moved to Mount Vernon from its North Kings Highway location in June, owner K.J. Park said. The store was previously located in the Mount Vernon Plaza shopping center for 26 years before moving to North Kings Highway in 2007. Park decided to move back because the Potomac Square shopping center is located in an area where most of his customers live, he said. The shopping center is located at 8401 Richmond Highway.

He has been focusing on battery changes, jewelry repairs, and ring sizing, he said. He hopes to grow his business in the Mount Vernon area.

"I hope to serve more customers," Park said. "People tell me I have a good, competitive price. A lot of people know me so they feel comfortable leaving their valuables with me."

When customers visit the Mount Vernon location, they're sure to see a familiar face — Star, Park's St. Bernard dog.

"She comes to work every day since I moved here," Park said.

Mount Vernon Jewelers is located in the Potomac Square shopping center on Route 1.
