Antique and consignment shop moving from Del Ray to Route 1 corridor.

We were all wondering what was going on with the old St Clair Appliance building. And after posting the now lime green building on Greater Alexandria Patch on Tuesday, our question has been answered. Alexandria residents can look forward to seeing a new antique shop along the Route 1 corridor in the coming months.

On Wednesday, Patch received an email from Potomac West Interiors & Antiques and Not Too Shabby Consignments to say they are preparing the building for their move from Mt. Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. The two businesses will become one when they move to the new location.

Potomac West Interiors is a vintage and antique home furnishings store primarily consisting of dealers and Not Too Shabby is a vintage and antique consignment store.

Potomac West and Not Too Shabby have been located in Del Ray for the past 14 years, but recently found out it would be displaced by Walgreens.

"We will be combining the two businesses under the new name Evolution Home when we move to the new location on Shields Ave," explained Lauren Rissmiller of Potomac West Interiors & Antiques in the recent email.

In a brief phone interview, Rissmiller said they just received notice that the building where the business is currently located in Del Ray was officially sold. After receiving that information, they started putting their plans to move in motion.

Rissmiller said owner Susan Driscoll plans to have a soft opening July 27, and they plan to have their grand opening around Aug. 1, but these dates are not set in stone just yet.

To keep up with the progress of the move, check back with Greater Alexandria Patch or check out the Facebook pages for Not Too Shabby and Potomac West Interiors.
