Construction crews are nearing completion on the Candlewood Suites hotel on Richmond Highway.

The Candlewood Suites hotel is slated to open on June 15, said Vik Patel, SVP of Baywood Hotels. The hotel will be Baywood Hotels' third property on the Richmond Highway corridor. The hotel has three floors with 57 suites with amenities including fully-equipped kitchens and workspaces with high-speed Internet access. Candlewood Suites will also allow guests to bring their pets with them for an extra fee.

The hotel is taking reservations for arrivals after July 12, according to the Candlewood Suites website.

Patel told Patch that the hotel caters to people who come to Fort Belvoir as contractors for extended time periods.

"We believe it'll do well," he said.

Southeast Fairfax Development Corp. Communications Director David Ben said each high-quality hotel on the Richmond Highway corridor brings in between 7 to 10 million dollars in revenue.

"We're very excited to have Candlewood Suites join the Richmond Highway corridor," Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation Communications Director David Ben told Patch. "It's an attractive property and we think any development that comes in that has a strong business model and is an attractive property is a welcome addition."
