George Washington’s is hiring a full-time professional gardener to apply the latest horticultural practices in an historic setting. Position provides opportunities to work in an 18th century pleasure garden caring for heirloom perennials, annuals, vegetables, fruit trees and a variety of shrubs. Position is hands-on and classified as "essential" staff, thus must participate in emergencies, ice and snow removal and special events. Occasional weekend and holiday work is required. Responsibilities include: all aspects of garden maintenance through the proper planting, pruning, fertilizing, harvesting and pest control of Mount Vernon's premier exhibition garden; creating planting, harvesting and maintenance schedules; performing routine maintenance, including mowing, raking, weeding, cultivating. Candidates must have ability to work independently but also supervise other gardeners and volunteers, as well as interact positively with visitors. Qualifications: Minimum of 2 year degree in Horticulture or related science degree required; minimum of 3 years experience maintaining public gardens; experience in operating a variety of equipment including, tractors, trimmers, mowers and blowers; knowledge and experience in proper application of pesticides, posses (has ability to obtain) a VA pesticide operator's license; ability to lift at least 30 lbs. and spend large amounts of time standing bending and moving plants. Pretty Lady Pole Fit, a women’s fitness center located in the Mount Vernon Plaza Shopping Center, is looking to hire a Front Desk Associate.  Candidates must be organized, on time, friendly, self-motivated, a quick learner, enthusiastic and a team player. Responsibilities include: Greet each member and guests promptly; respond to member requests, inquiries and concerns; check each member into the gym using the proper check-in procedures; answer phone in a professional and courteous manner; addresses caller's requests; take appropriate messages; follow-up on telephone inquiries; update studio Facebook and Twitter pages; clean and maintain the front desk area, general studio area (including mirrors and floors), studio lounge and bathrooms; reserve time/makes appointments for personal training, special classes or other activities sponsored by the studio; and, process retail and concession sales. Qualifications: High school diploma; excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively; understanding of basic cash processing procedures; functional computer skills; ability to multi-task.
