The average temperature at Reagan National Airport was 3.3 degrees above normal for the year.

2012 was the warmest year on record in the DC area, according to data from the National Weather Service.

The average temperature at the airport was 61.5 degrees in 2012—that's 3.3 degrees above the annual normal from 1981 to 2010. The March 2012 average was 10 degrees above the normal average for that month, according to data from the National Weather Service.

The high temperature average "would be comparable to the normal annual temperature of Atlanta, Oklahoma City and San Jose, just to name a few locations," the National Weather Service reported.
