5 Things to Know Today in Mount Vernon

Here are five things you need to know today.

  • Today in 1731, First Lady Martha Washington was born. If your name is Martha, you're in luck. The will grant free admission to guests named Martha; just provide the ticket clerks with proof of your name. Don't forget to check out about the famous First Lady. 
  • The Huntington Community Association is having its annual summer potluck dinner meeting at 7:30pm tonight at the .
  • The Our Lives, Our Songs production by the  Choral Department premieres tonight at 7:30pm.
  • The 1st Annual Skinner Golf Classic will be held on June 24 at the Woodlawn Course of Fort Belvoir and all proceeds will go toward funding student programs at Mount Vernon High School. Registration forms can be found on the school's website.
  • June 3-5 have been designated as Free Fishing Days in Virginia as a part of the National Fishing and Boating Week that starts on Saturday.
