5 Things to Know Today in Mount Vernon

Keep in mind these five local tidbits.

  1. You can shred up to 25 pounds of paper for free on Sunday from 12pm to 5pm at the Paper Shredding Event in Alexandria.
  2.  starts this Monday at Pat Troy's Ireland's Own in Old Town. The six-week speaker series hosted by the Catholic Diocese of Arlington is open to everyone who is at least 21 years old.
  3. Fairfax County is sponsoring Camp Seed, a free camp for children in grades 6-10 that includes two nights in Shenandoah National Park. The sessions are August 8-12 and August 15-19.
  4. July is National Picnic Month.
  5. 'Winnie the Pooh movie' has been a popular search term according to Google Trends because the movie opens in theaters today.
