PHOTOS: Alice's Kids Hands Out Free Books for Kids

Local charity distributes more than 1,000 books to area children.

On Saturday, local charity Alice's Kids distributed more than 1,000 books to needy children in the Creekside community.

"It was an overwhelming success," said executive director Ron Fitzsimmons. "The kids just kept coming and filling up their bags with books. I think a few kids came back for seconds!

Great to see three locally based charities (UCM, Christian Relief Services and Alice's Kids) coming together to help provide new, quality books to our children here in Mount Vernon.
