Labor Day in Mount Vernon

Before you head out this Labor Day, check out today's five things to know today in Mount Vernon.

1. The  with live music, food and shopping is being held today at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
2. Registration is open for Stories by Gary Lloyd on September 17 at Sherwood Regional Library.
3. Fairfax County Public Schools start tomorrow. The Fairfax County Police are urging motorists to be extra cautious in school zones and officers will be posted in key locations to help ensure pedestrian safety.
4. United Christian Ministries is holding its first annual community-wide Mini-Walk on October 29. You can join a team or make a donation online.
5. September is National Breakfast Month.
