Woodlawn Needlework Exhibition Celebrates 50 Years

The Woodlawn Needlework Exhibition celebrates 50 years of showcasing the best needlework in the country starting Friday at Woodlawn Plantation.

Woodlawn is commemorating the Needlework Exhibition's 50th anniversary with a silent auction called Celebration of Needlework, Woodlawn Visitor Services Manager Meredith Mitchell told Patch. Proceeds from the auction will go towards Woodlawn.

Police: Men Pull Gun on Woman Walking Home; Peeping Incident Friday Morning

ROBBERY, 8200 block of Russell Road, 3/22/13, 4:15 p.m. A 27-year-old was walking home when she was approached by two individuals. One brandished a handgun and demanded money. They fled with her purse. She was not injured. One suspect was described as a male, black, 16-20 years old, approximately 5’4” and 150 lbs. The other suspect was approximately 13-year-old, 5’1” and 110 lbs.

Construction on Mulligan Road in Mount Vernon is progressing on schedule.

The four-lane connector road will run from the intersection of Richmond Highway and Mount Vernon Memorial Highway and Telegraph Road. The road is scheduled to be completed in late 2013, after experiencing construction delays due to a setback in November 2011.

Pedestrian Killed on Fairfax County Parkway Sunday Night

A 57-year-old man was struck by a car and killed on Sunday night near Fort Belvoir. The victim was struck by a 1997 Ford pick-up truck at around 11:20 p.m. in an unlit section of the Fairfax County Parkway going south near Ehlers Road.
