Mount Vernon Could See A Wintry Mix, Snow
Snow and rain could begin overnight and could wreak havoc on the morning rush hour Tuesday.
The recent spring-like weather was nice while it lasted.
A winter weather advisory is in effect in Northern Virginia from 9 p.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday.
A “wintry mix” of snow and sleet will start to blanket the D.C. metro area by 1 a.m. Snow and sleet accumulations are predicted to reach 2 to 5 inches. Temperatures will drop into the mid-20s Monday night, but northeast winds will make it feel a bit colder.

Tuesday morning, commuters may encounter sleet, snow or ice on the roadways. Show showers will continue Tuesday morning as temperatures rise into the mid-30s. Skies will clear in the afternoon.
As of 7:30 p.m. Monday, neither Fairfax County Public Schools nor Alexandria City Public Schools had made any announcements regarding Tuesday’s schedule. On Friday, the temperature at Reagan National Airport peaked at 76 degrees. The temperature at Dulles International Airport reached 74 degrees.
