Photos: Businesswomen Share Experiences at Women in Business Kickoff

Four local female business owners discuss what they learned in their journey.

The Mount Vernon Athletic Club was filled with successful businesswomen at the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce Women in Business group’s kickoff event Thursday night.

Chamber members and community members attended the event to mingle and listen to a panel discussion from Inova Mount Vernon Hospital CEO Barbara Doyle, ServiceMaster of Alexandria owner Jane Gandee, Top It Off Accessories President Karena Rasser, and The Cleaning Authority owner Sonja Caison. These business leaders discussed what they learned in their journey to success.

Founded by Maggie Britvec (Mount Vernon Athletic Club), Ashley McNeff (United States Homeland Investigations), Doyle, Caison Marlene Miller (Mount Vernon Voice), and Hilaire Henthorne (Passionate Purpose Coaching), the Women in Business group is reaching out to women to help them grow in their professional lives.

“The key is really helping yourself professionally, but helping your life balance,” Maggie Britvec said.

The next event, "From Distressed to De-Stressed: Making Wellness a Priority," will be presented by Hilaire Henthorne on Nov. 8 at the Mount Vernon Inn.

What a terrific start for our Women in Business series, Jessie! We had a great turn out last night, the attendees engaged the speakers with good questions, and the women who came told us this was a worthwhile event. So, we're excited and hoping even more women professionals and business owners will come for our next event on Nov. 8!
