Telegraph Road Closures, Construction This Week

Weather permitting, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project will be conducting significant Telegraph Road and Capital Beltway (I-95/495) closures through October 1.  Variable message signs will be posted throughout the area with detour routes.  This work will have major impacts on local traffic,  and motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The scheduled work is as follows.

Major Telegraph Road Closures
 
Friday, Oct. 7 through Monday, Oct. 10 NIGHTLY from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

• Telegraph Road North will be completely closed at the Capital Beltway for roadway construction.
  o Detour: To access Duke Street, motorists should take the ramp to Eisenhower Avenue to right on Eisenhower Avenue to the traffic circle to Holland Lane to Duke Street
• The ramp from Telegraph Road North to the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed. 
  o Detour:  Motorists should take the ramp to Eisenhower Avenue East to Holland Avenue North to Duke Street East to U.S. Route 1 South to the Outer Loop.
• The ramp from Telegraph Road North to the Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be closed.
  o Detour: Motorists should take the ramp to Eisenhower Avenue West to the Eisenhower Connector South to the I-95 South ramp.

Saturday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 8 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. DAILY; also Monday, Oct. 3 through Thursday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. DAILY:

• The ramp from Telegraph Road South to the Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed for roadway construction.  
  o Detour: Motorists should take the ramp to Huntington Avenue East to U.S. Route 1 North to the Outer Loop.
• The ramp from Telegraph Road North to the Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed for roadway construction.  
  o Detour: Motorists should continue to Duke Street East to U.S. Route 1 South to the on-ramp to the Outer Loop.

                  
Major Capital Beltway Closures
 
Monday, Oct. 3 OVERNIGHT from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

• Two right lanes of the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed between the Eisenhower Avenue Connector and Telegraph Road for roadway construction. Only one Outer Loop lane will remain open in this corridor during this time.

Tuesday, Oct. 4 OVERNIGHT from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

• The left lane of the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) will be closed between Telegraph Road and the Eisenhower Connector for roadway construction.

Thursday, Oct. 6 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

• The right lane of the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) will be closed between the Eisenhower Avenue Connector and Telegraph Road for roadway construction.  There will be a 15-minute complete closure just after midnight.

Friday, Oct. 7 through Monday, Oct. 10 NIGHTLY from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

• The ramp from the Capital Beltway Inner Loop (I-95/495 South) to Telegraph Road North will be closed for roadway construction. 
  o Detour:  To access Duke Street, motorists should take the Pershing Avenue exit from the Inner Loop to right on Stovall Street to left on Eisenhower Avenue to the traffic circle to Holland Lane to Duke Street.
• The ramp from the Capital Beltway Outer Loop (I-95/495 North) to Telegraph Road North will be closed for roadway construction. 
  o Detour:  Motorists should take the Eisenhower Avenue ramp to right on Eisenhower Avenue to the traffic circle to Holland Lane to Duke Street.

BRAC/Fort Belvoir Intersection Improvements at Route 1

Nighttime work - Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Richmond Hwy (Route 1) south from Woodlawn Rd. to Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Single lane closed Sunday night from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for milling and paving.

Daytime work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

• Richmond Hwy (Route 1) south from Woodlawn Rd. to Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Single lane closed Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 3p.m. for road widening and signal work. 
• Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) north from Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) to Pohick Rd.  - Left lane closed Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for curb and sidewalk construction.

BRAC/Fairfax County Parkway Extension Project

Daytime work - Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

• I-95 south from Exit 167, Backlick Rd. to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) - Right lane closed Monday - Friday for road work and sign relocation.
• Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) north and south from Barta Rd. to Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) - Single lane closed Monday - Friday for construction in median or shoulder widening.
