Here are five things to keep in mind today in Mount Vernon.

1. The Huntington Community Association monthly meeting is tonight at the Huntington Community Center.
2. The MVHS varsity football team plays at home tonight against Stuart High School.
3. The West Potomac varsity football team plays at home tonight against Lee High School.
4. The Rising Words, Rising Images book group for teens will discuss "The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing: Traitor to the Nation" by M.T. Anderson on October 12 at Sherwood Regional Library.
5. This week is World Space Week.
