This Week's Weather: Warm Temperatures, Humidity Returns

This week's temperatures will hover in the 90-degree range.

Northern Virginia experienced a brief reprieve from the oppressive heat this past weekend, but temperatures will be back in the 90s this week.

Monday's temperature is projected to hit 90 degrees with humidity at 60 percent. The day will kick off with sunny skies, with a slight chance of precipitation later in the day. According to the National Weather Service, there will be a 20 percent chance of rain Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday, meteorologists will keep their eyes on a cold front coming from the north and west and possible storms moving in later in the day, the Capital Weather Gang reports.

Monday and Tuesday's air quality will be "yellow" or moderate with some pollution, according to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments website. Wednesday's air quality is projected to fall in the "green" or good range.

If storms do occur Tuesday night, Northern Virginia's best weather day could be Wednesday, with a forecasted high of 88 degrees, sunny skies and lower humidity, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service are predicting a 30 percent chance of storms on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

For this coming weekend, the area may see partly sunny skies with highs hitting the lower 90s on Saturday, and mostly sunny skies on Sunday with a high of 93 degrees.
