Who's Hiring in Mount Vernon?

Patch's picks for the best jobs in Mt. Vernon this week.

Penske Truck Leasing is looking for a part-time "hiker," which at first sounded like a sweet deal: get paid to walk in the mountains? But alas, no, it's a term in the trucking industry to describe a vehicle transporter. You'd be delivering and returning vehicles to Penske locations and delivering parts and equipment. You must have a Class A CDL license, a high school diploma and two years of driving experience. This is also an evening shift, so this is perfect for night owls.

The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development is looking for a communications specialist to work out of Alexandria. The position focuses on advancing initiatives and growing awareness of their mission. The salary starts in the low $60s and a degree in journalism or communications is required along with four years of experience.

Mount Vernon Athletic Club is looking for a department head for personal training. The position will entail monitoring and instructing clients during personal training sessions, educating members on current fitness issues, mentor new personal trainers, ensuring club policies and procedures and ensuring cleanliness of the club using "all five senses." This includes "sight to ensure club is neat...sound to ensure music is appropriate...touch to ensure floors are dry...taste to ensure food at cafe is up to standards...smell to ensure club is fresh." What other job do you have to use your five senses with such rigor?

Sears in Alexandria is looking for a part-time receiving associate to unload merchandise, stage and organize merchandise and coordinate the backroom. This description makes it sound like you'll be stacking a lot of boxes, but it is an entry level gig.
