Mt Vernon Unitarian Holiday Shop Cancelled for Construction—Back in 2014

The Mount Vernon Unitarian Church regrets to announce

that its 2013 Holiday Shop, usually held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, is

cancelled this year only. Holiday Shop will be back —bigger and better—in

2014.

Holiday Shop, a Mount Vernon tradition for the past 52years, is a full day of local artist vendors, crafts, food, and activities tokick off the holidays. The event was cancelled because the church Meeting House is undergoing long-planned renovations to enlarge its Commons area. The Holiday Shop committee decided the construction would negatively affect the amenities necessary for a successful event.

“We will miss hosting you this year,” said HolidayShop coordinator Mary Barnett.  “We hope that you will return next yearwhen we will have a bigger space and even more artists and activities.”

Construction began this week and is scheduled to finish in the spring.
